Bristol Tennessee City Schools is proud to recognize Brad Morelock as the District Teacher of the Year for grades 9-12. A dedicated educator at Tennessee High School, Mr. Morelock is known for his passion, commitment, and ability to inspire students in and beyond the classroom.
Originally from Kingsport, Mr. Morelock has called Bristol home for the past 16 years, the same amount of time he has been married to his wonderful wife, Ashley. Together, they have built a loving family with their two daughters, Gracie, a second grader at Holston View, and Ella, their three-year-old.
Mr. Morelock is a graduate of King College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, and he is currently furthering his education by pursuing a master’s degree at Austin Peay. His entire teaching career has been spent at Tennessee High School, a place he deeply cherishes. "Tennessee High School is the only place I have ever taught, and I could not imagine teaching anywhere else," he shares.
At Tennessee High, Mr. Morelock teaches AP U.S. History, AP Human Geography, and Teaching as a Profession, courses that challenge and prepare students for the future. His approach to teaching is rooted in his calling. "I teach because I feel like it is what I am called to do," he explains. "I truly enjoy teaching and being an inspiration to others while being a positive role model for students. I cannot see myself in any other career."
For Mr. Morelock, inspiration begins at home. "The thing that truly inspires me to do what I do is my family," he says. "My family is extremely important to me and continues to inspire me every day to be not only the best teacher that I can be but more importantly, the best husband and father that I can be."
His passion for teaching shines through in his daily interactions with students. He strives to make learning engaging, relevant, and meaningful, always aiming to help students develop responsibility and prepare for life beyond high school. "My favorite thing about teaching is having the opportunity to help students become more responsible and prepare them for life after high school," Mr. Morelock explains. "Hopefully, I can be a positive role model for them while they become a positive role model for someone else."
Through his unwavering dedication, Mr. Morelock has impacted countless students and colleagues, leaving a lasting mark on Tennessee High School. His recognition as the 9-12 District Teacher of the Year is a testament to his passion, leadership, and the profound influence he has on the next generation.
