The Bristol Tennessee Board of Education is excited to welcome Charlie Taylor as its newest member. Sworn in on January 23, Mr. Taylor steps into this role with deep ties to Bristol Tennessee City Schools (BTCS), succeeding Derek Linkous, who faithfully served on the board for seven years.

As a Tennessee High graduate and a parent of two Haynesfield Elementary students, Charles and Winston, Mr. Taylor’s connection to the BTCS community runs deep. He brings with him a passion for education and a vision for continued academic and extracurricular excellence. "A large portion of my life has been intertwined with the school system," Mr. Taylor said. "I’m excited to serve and support our BTCS community, administration, and staff as we educate career- and college-ready students. I believe that with community involvement, there is nothing our students cannot achieve."

Upon graduation from Tennessee High, Mr. Taylor earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee and currently serves as vice president of operations at Burke, Powers & Harty, Inc., experiences which add a wealth of knowledge and leadership skills to the board. Beyond his career, Mr. Taylor is an active community servant. He is an elder at First Presbyterian Church, has coached youth sports in baseball, basketball, football, wrestling, and soccer, and has contributed his expertise to several nonprofit boards.

Mr. Taylor and his wife, Elise, also a Tennessee High graduate, are dedicated to giving back to the community that has shaped their lives. Together, they are raising their sons with a shared commitment to education and community values.

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Charlie Taylor as he begins his term on the Bristol Tennessee Board of Education.
