Career Opportunities
For the Machine Tool certificate most students with this credential go to work at local machine shops or in an industrial settings. However, Eastman requires students be enrolled in the associate degree program in Machine Tool for participation in their co-op/trainee program. All courses in the Machine Tool Operations certificate program articulate into the associate of applied science degree program in industrial technology; with machine tool concentration. The certificate and degree prepare individuals for employment as machinists and CNC programmers/operators. With this type of training, individuals can set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments out of metal. They can also fabricate or modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines. On average, machinists in our area earn $46,640 annually. According to My Next Move, the outlook for computer numerically controlled tool programmers is bright, and new job opportunities are very likely in the future.
