Two members of the Bristol Tennessee Board of Education were recognized by the Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) for their commitment to professional development and service as school board members.

Charlie Taylor and Jennifer Henson received 2026 TSBA Boardsmanship Awards during the Northeast Fall District Meeting, held September 14 at The General Morgan Inn in Greeneville.

Taylor earned a Level I Boardsmanship Award, and Henson earned a Level II Boardsmanship Award.

“We are proud to see Mr. Taylor and Ms. Henson recognized for the time and effort they invest in becoming even more effective advocates for our students, staff, and schools,” said Director of Schools Dr. Annette Tudor. “Their commitment to continued learning and thoughtful service reflects our core values of excellence, integrity, and community and strengthens the work we do together on behalf of every student in Bristol Tennessee City Schools.”

TSBA’s Boardsmanship Awards recognize school board members who pursue continued learning and professional growth beyond their responsibilities at the local level. Board members earn credits in three areas: training and events, experiences, and conventions and workshops. Credits may be earned through activities such as boardsmanship and school law training, leadership and legislative programs, webinars, board evaluations, participation in other governmental or school board meetings, and TSBA conferences and workshops.

Taylor and Henson join fellow Bristol Tennessee Board of Education members who have previously achieved recognition through the TSBA Boardsmanship Program. Jim Butcher has achieved Level IV, Eric Cuddy has achieved Level II, and Debbie Darnell has achieved Level I.

Taylor and Henson were among school board members from across Northeast Tennessee recognized during this year’s district meeting.

The Tennessee School Boards Association is a statewide nonprofit organization representing Tennessee’s local boards of education and providing training, resources, advocacy, and other services to support effective school board governance.
